Environmental and Societal sustainability falls within three general pillars 1) environmental, 2) social, and 3) economic. Environmental concerns include protecting the environment by complying with or exceeding state law; societal impacts vary from working in a safe environment to ecology awareness programs; and economic concerns include reducing project costs while incorporating the reduction of the carbon footprint and the reduction of sediment flowing from the property into nearby waterbodies.

The benefits of sustainability include material sourcing, consistent format, compliance with law, efficient management, minimization of resource and energy use, increases the possibility of cost savings, and risk management.

This policy relates to how W.E.C., Inc. (WEC) operates and provides services to its clients.  Annually, WEC will evaluate and update the integration of environmental and social considerations into our everyday practices and operations. WEC will strive to improve its sustainable footprint to its clients, personnel, and the environment.

The company acknowledges that it has potential impacts on people and the environment through our operations and project design and specifications. This policy aims to integrate sustainable development into WEC’s activities and promote sound policy in our operations.

  1. WEC commits to complying with applicable laws.

  2. The company will protect human rights by being an equal opportunity employer and following all accepted labor laws. It has also assigned an equal opportunity employer coordinator who will act on complaints and post employee policy. The company also provides equal pay for equal work for all employees.

  3. WEC will minimize the impact on the environment through its operations and design. As an example, WEC employees are permitted to work from home and specify environmentally friendly products when available. WEC implements conference calls when appropriate to reduce in-office meetings that require multiple people to commute to the site.

  4. The company will foster responsible environmental behavior through all employees such as recycling copier products and office equipment.

  5. WEC commits to minimize adverse impacts by implementing a system for measuring and monitoring environmental and social actions.
